In almost every media depiction I saw, fishers are tied to men: a masculine, rough and challenging job. So where is the women's role? In most fishing families women play an active part, but because they often work in preparing and processing the catch, they are seen as helpers, not fishers.

However hard and dangerous their work, fisherwomen have not received the credit they deserve, and recognition and protection from the government is a long and winding process. With this film I want to shed some light on them, and I hope it can become a collective memory of their hardships.
